Scott and I had been wanting to check out a restaurant in Chicago called "Bread & Wine" for quite a while. We drive past it on the way to the suburbs, but it's far enough away from our neighborhood that it isn't super high on the list when we're considering an impromptu date. Restaurant Week provided the perfect excuse.
There was a set menu as part of the Restaurant Week promotion, but being a not-so-adventurous eater, I decided to skip it and go with something a little more.. tame. Scott took advantage of the set menu, and for his first course he selected beef tongue. (!!!) When it arrived, it looked like undercooked meat, but since it was paired with leafy greens, mustard and onion crisps, I was somehow cajoled in to trying a bite.
The result? I can't say I enjoyed it (I didn't) but I survived and now I can check this off the list!
