Chicago Marathon 2012

Yesterday was the 2012 Chicago Marathon and it went straight by the font door to our condo building. The race started at 8:00 am downtown Chicago and then circled around a bit before passing our door just after mile seven.  My coworker friend was running, and I had plans to be outside the lobby of my building by 9am.  Scott joined me and thank goodness he did - he was actually the one to spot her.

Seeing the hundreds and thousands of runners was so inspiring.  Men, women, teenagers, 20-somethings, 50-somethings, grandparents... people of all ages.

A few of my favorite runners (besides people I knew, obviously) were: a guy wearing a banana costume.  A group of older gentlemen wearing "BEAT OPRAH'S TIME" shirts (and they were also chanting that same thing, haha).  A group of women wearing "TEAM SUSIE" shirts.  A woman wearing a tank that said "new runner" on the front and "baby's first marathon" on the back.  Charity runners, wearing "Race against MS" or "Race against Breast Cancer" shirts.  A guy running while holding an American flag.  I love watching marathon runners - unbelievably inspiring.
