#3 Watch Gone With the Wind

My friend Melissa was sweet enough to loan me her copy and over the long weekend, I watched Gone With the Wind start-to-finish. A few thoughts:

  • It's long. And by long - I mean almost 4 hours long.

  • I was surprised how many of the lines ("Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn"; "With enough courage, you can do without a reputation"; "You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how"; "As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again") I'd heard before but never knew they were from Gone With the Wind.

  • I had really dragged my feet about watching this one, but I LOVED every second of it. The plot was interesting, the characters were scandalous, and the chemistry between Clark Gable & Vivien Leigh was electric. I can see why it's considered such a classic. I highly recommend it.

What classic movie should I see next?

  1. I'm glad you enjoyed it! One of my all time favorites!

Now you should watch the movie Drop Dead Gorgeous with me. Not a classic per se, but a cult classic.

  2. in no particular order:
In The Heat of the Night
    Midnight Cowboy
    Sling Blade
    On The Waterfront
    Double Indemnity
    Citizen Kane
    North by Northwest

  3. DROP DEAD GORGEOUS IS AMAZING!!!!!!! as is casablanca and north by northwest and chinatown, and probably the rest of those which i haven't necessarily seen. also LOVE STORY, the best movie of all time.

christine, your best cousin ever, or one of at least.

  4. Christine...calling "Love Story" the best movie of all time is absurd...do not mislead Kate. Have you seen On The Waterfront? Just slightly better than L.S. Check out my list above.

I have no argument with you, however, that you are probably the best cousin of all time!
